Bissel B.

Bissel B. can be found just a short walk from IKEA and the outlet strip at Bridge Road in Richmond. Yiddish for “just a little bit”, Bissel’s venture into the bagel world is a new one, but they’ve already left their mark, backed by experienced bakers. The owners at Bissel B. were inspired to open their stores after a recent trip to America set their taste buds ablaze for the magic of the glutinous ring. They’re open for cafe-style eats daily, and have a second store in Elsternwick, if Richmond isn’t nearby. Still not convinced they serve some of the best bagels in Melbourne? Here’s what one reviewer had to say:

“I just had the first bagel of my life from your Richmond store, and let me say, I didnt know what I missing until that first bite, fantastic stuff! Very welcoming, fast service and delicious food, will definitely be back. Also the house made pickle was exceptional 🤤”

Bagels Baby

Bagels Baby

If you didn’t read the name of this shop in an Austin Powers voice, did you really read it? Located on Derby Street in Pascoe Vale, Bagels Baby is just a tram ride away from most suburbs in the CBD. Open 8am-2.30pm on weekdays and 8am-2pm on weekends, this place has got you sorted for a breakfast, lunch, or afternoon tea fit for a king. You can get everything from a simple jam on your bagel to an Asian-inspired chicken katsu with authentic panko crust in this place. Of course, being a Melbourne store, you’re going to get a pretty decent coffee here too. They’ve recently opened a second store in Greensborough, so if you’re more North-East of the city than most, this might just be your new favourite local haunt.

“This place is amazing! Never had tried loaded bagels and wasn’t ever a big fan of bagels either, but let me tell you.. This place will not disappoint and changed me forever!

I have tried almost everything on the menu and can without a doubt say that everything is super delicious. If I am ever in the area and these guys are operating, it is a must go-to place for me to get my bagel fix.

Would give 6/5 if it was possible but google review only allows me to give it 5/5!”

They’re open 7.30am-3pm weekdays and 8am-3pm weekends, and even have an online ordering option on their site, so you can skip the queue and pick up your order right away on arrival. You have the option of dining in or even picking up a bag of bagels to take home with you and prepare later at this place, which is pretty neat. Choose from the wide menu selection or opt to build your own bagel, with a side of chips (crisps) and pickles of course. We loved the Halloumi bagel for something a little different here. While you’re at it, don’t sleep on their Biscoff latte, it’s out of this world!
