The Provincial Hotel Melbourne Bottomless Brunch Review

If you’re looking to do a Bottomless Brunch in Melbourne, you certainly have a bunch to pick from! But one of the most ‘vibey’ to partake in – in my opinion – is the Citrus Summer Brunch on the rooftop of The Provincial Hotel, in Melbourne’s inner northern suburb of Fitzroy. Italian-inspired, the brunch’s generous ‘feed me’ menu of veg-friendly, lemon-centric share plates and spritzes will leave you feeling like you’re summering on the sunny Amalfi Coast.

For hungry bottomless brunchers – starters of creamy burrata infused with lemon-fragranced extra virgin olive oil, and delightfully more-ish pizza fritto, are followed by a zesty salad of green peas, broad beans, and ‘cultured lemon cream’, coupled with carb-loaded ‘pizza bread’ – delicious. Mains are a little less impressive – and, we thought, slightly redundant: the crispy artichokes, caprese tomato salad, and mozzarella balls seemed unnecessary after the mouthwatering and belly-filling entrees that preceded them.

Let’s be real for a minute, though, we weren’t there for the food – as our lack of photos of the meal would indicate. Indeed, the sole image of our entire dining experience during our 3:00 pm session of the vibey venue’s Citrus Summer Brunch was a quick snap of me tucking into the burrata. Exhibit A:

No, what we had actually trekked over to the faraway land of the northern side of Melbourne was for the beverages – including, especially, the bottomless, self-serve raspberry and limoncello slushies, which we made a bee-line for as soon as we got to the venue.

And it was a good thing those self-pour slushies were on offer, as the remainder of the drinks (we had to queue at the bar to request other bottomless offerings of summer spritzes, wines, and beers) were decidedly challenging to get our hands on. At one point, my partner queued for almost 25 minutes to procure a serve of spritzes – the Ruby Red Grapefruit Spritz, and the Peach Pomegranate Bellini, respectively – which in my opinion, were worth the wait.

Towards the end of our exceptionally pleasant and alcohol-infused two-hour sitting on the sunny, summer-house-music-filled rooftop – as if we hadn’t already had enough to eat and drink – our friendly and attentive waitress provided us with one last treat: a zesty lemon popsicle, along with the recommendation that we take it with us downstairs. Indeed, we could see that staff were starting to usher all of the now very jolly bottomless brunchers off the rooftop, to make way for upcoming dinner bookings.

Overall, it was certainly a very vibey way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon, and I’m happy to report: well worth the trek to the northern side of the city.
