I’ve always seen Roll’d stores around local shopping centres around Melbourne but never gotten around to trying it. Today I was really keen on something light and healthy for breakfast at work, like a Salad on UberEats but the place I was thinking of (Soul Origin) doesn’t start their Salads until 11 am.
Instead, I looked up places that sell Rice Paper Rolls and after looking at a few, I settled on Roll’d as they were similarly priced per unit, but you can order them singularly, rather than 3 at a time of the same flavour, allowing me to try more different things for about the same price.
I ordered Lemongrass Beef Soldier for $4.90, BBQ Chicken Soldier for $4.90 and Crispy Chicken Ribs for $6. My colleague Jack also got the Crispy Chicken Ribs.
Roll’d Crispy Chicken Ribs Review
It’s been a long time since I’ve had chicken ribs, and when I saw these I was surprised at how small and disappointing the servings were, but these were actually really good, despite being a little cold. They seemed to have a soy-sauce flavour to them, rather than plain, so they had a strong salty taste, which was good.
On UberEats, it didn’t actually say how many you get and the picture looked like it was about 4 to me. But the serving size is actually 3 per order.
I think they were actually the standout of the meal. I’d happily order them again, but with multiple servings, not just one.
Roll’d Rice Paper Roll Review
These were both nice, but not the best rice paper rolls I’ve ever had. I liked the sauce packets that come with them as well. As I put sauces on these it was hard to really distinguish too much of the flavours between the two of them. The volume of meat in each seemed pretty average, which is always what I grade rice paper rolls on. I think a local place in my home town has really made everyone else look tight in the filling department.
That being said, I’d still order either of these again.
