Hunger Valley Burgers South Melbourne Review & Menu

Hunger Valley in South Melbourne is located on Market Street the outside Woolworths and Spotlight. I’ve walked past it a thousand times since it rebranded from its previous name… I forgot what was there previously b ut I believe it was also a burger joint.

I always admired the photography of the food, but the place never seemed very busy to me, which always made me question how good it is. Well, today Arthur and I finally bit the bullet and gave it a try, and we were both quite impressed.

Southern Fried Chicken burger

This is massive, it feels like it weighs more than my kitten does. This is a real cut of chicken breast (or similar), nothing processed about it. The chicken batter is really crunchy and might have a tiny bit of spice to it. It is definitely a lot better than the chicken burgers from KFC or Hungry Jack’s and for only $16, this is twice as likely to fill you as any of their standard burgers, making this pretty good value for the amount of food you’re getting and the quality.

One other thing to mention is that this is absolutely dropping with sauce. and coleslaw. It is incredibly messy, but given how satisfying it is, I’m not even mad. The buns are also of great quality. I can be fussy when it comes to burger buns, and these are great. I highly recommend this burger and will definitely come back again soon.

Mexican Beef Burger

Fresh and juicy. Maybe too juicy as the burger dripped all over the table. Make sure you have something to clean up with. Not the sort of burger you can eat with one hand.

All ingredients tasted fresh and had a good spice to them because of the jalapenos. The meat was fresh ingredients were fresh.

It’s up there with Grill’d burgers if I had to rate it, but obviously less healthy. This tastes like a real burger. I was quite satisfied and will go back again.

If there was something I could change on it. It would be nice if the onions were cooked rather than fresh. I would rate it about 7.5 out of 10, where Maccas Big Mac would be a 4.
