A25 Pizzeria South Yarra Review

Never has ordering a pizza been such a rollercoaster of emotions. I’ve gone from excitement to temporary disappointment to utter amazement in a very short period of time here. Let me explain.

When checking out new pizza places to try today, I came across A25 Pizzeria in South Yarra on Uber Eats. I noticed that all the pizzas here were about $30 each, which is quite pricy, especially given the sizes. I’d expect “giant” pizzas in Werribee for $30+ whilst these are more like a “large” or “medium” compared to the places that do small, medium, large, family, giant like Ages, Uncle Leo’s and some others in my local suburb of Werribee. But today I felt like I was worth splashing out on a fancy lunch, so I ordered a $30+ pizza for myself.

About A25 Pizzeria

A25 Pizzeria is located in South Yarra and has previously also had a location in Docklands, which has since closed down, which is surprising given it had very high ratings on its Google Business Profile. Everything here appears to be made fresh in-store and the pizzas have a very fluffy and airy crust and reminds me of wood-oven pizza, yet is cooked in a commercial pizza oven.

My A25 Doppio Salame Review

A25 Pizzeria South Yarra Doppio Salame

The Dopplio Salame contains “Hot soppressata salame, cacciatore salame, fior di latte, tomato sugo” and they recommend trying it with a drizzle of honey, which is a free add-on. I did not get the honey.

I’ve got to say, when I first opened the box, the blackness of the crusts had me worried. But wow, this pizza was actually incredible. There are two types of salami on here and I’m not sure which is which, but they were both incredible. They had a nice heat to them but also had a very strong flavour as well, which meant that whilst there wasn’t an overall abundance of toppings, the strength of the flavour made it taste great anyway.

The base was very thin, yet managed not to get soggy or oily, an issue I’ve had with similar-style pizzas. The crust, despite looking a little overcooked was still soft and nice to eat. I can be quite fussy when it comes to burnt food, but this was still totally edible.

I wouldn’t typically spend $30 on a single meal for myself at work, but if you’re serious about good pizza, I’d highly recommend the Doppio Salame from A25 Pizzeria South Yarra.
